There was no moon that night, nor any stars gave off their light.
The air was chilled, the wind was still,
But I was out in the middle of the night.
The path was long and winding, the darkness seemed so blinding.
I had to get to my cabin, I felt that something would happen.
My flashlight did nothing to remove the blanket of darkness, nothing could be heard, there was only silence.
As I pushed through the weeds and muck, I was praying that I would make it home.
My cabin seemed so far away.
“You are lost,” the trees tried to say.
But I knew if I stayed on the path,
I would find my cabin at last.

Words like lightning pierce the sky as
Cold breath’s emotions drench my heart.
The fear to claim my love; my soul
Draws clearly upon this earth, body bound.
Souls fly only in the dreams of the makers
Of steel, their fine edges sharpened
To infinite perfection, and for that split second
Joining matter with the air, separating the spirit
From the body, kissing the bleeding red roses
As they fall down to earth. Oh! Angels wielding
The daggers of Truth, smite down the chilling
Voice that cursed my heart, striking me boldly
In that place that knits the soul with my body.
Tearing at my flesh, wounding my spirit,
That blade did find its mark in me,
And for that I lay dying, slipping softly from
The boundaries of earth.

A night of dreams
Wishes not to end
As the Nightingale warbles and sings
Of love, lust, and secret trysts.
A lullaby of sweet thoughts
Tease the ear and entreat the mind
To wander through the garden of dreams
The sun’s tender fingers
Dance across the face
The Lark’s piercing cries
Wake the world
Chill the mind
Thoughts once hot and moving
Are quieted in the morning mist
