Our Eyes

Our eyes have only one color.
We get it from our father and mother.
And although they may be bland to us,
They are beautiful to another.
Our eyes come in many colors,
Blues and browns and greens.
But some of us are lucky,
They are the ones with color queens.
Their eyes are like windows,
Into the world of emotion.
Each color has a meaning,
They always cause quite a commotion.
Whether their eyes are blue, green, or coffee,
They always look so pretty.
So when you see those gorgeous eyes, Don’t turn green with envy.
For they never asked for their eyes,
Just like you had no choice in the matter.
Because they have said they dislike their eyes,
And when they cause all the chatter.

Brick Red View

Red,like muddy passion;
Day old desires
and reused heartbeats.

Brick walled memories;
Tarnished beliefs
and congealed defeats.

Smothered crushes
with lost kisses
and burnt red blushes.

Red knuckled anger
like bricked fury;
halted irrationality.

Brick red thoughts,
Those marred suicides;
haunting innocence–lost.

Bloodmarks, birthscars,
everyday annoyances
Generating uniqueness.

Sentimentality aged
Like deja vu nostalgia;
relived fairy tales.

Painful happiness
where love and lost
blend prickled daydreams.

All brick red
With the signs of age;
churned firelight.

American Flag

Red, White, and Blue,
The pride of our nation.
Brings joy to the old,
And strength to the young.
The knowledge of freedom,
And the promise of liberty.
Children don’t understand why they pledge allegiance.
But older the age,
Pride grows for the nation.
They go to protect, serve, or lead,
Strong futures they see for this country.
Open minds and anxious feet,
They move this nation forward.
Stars and stripes
The nation’s pride,
The hope for this country.

Blue

Blue
Color that changes the moods of men
Bright as a summer day
The sky clear and hopeful
Promise of a new day
A newborn boy
Joyful blue

Blue
Pigment of sadness
Darkening the hearts
Feet drag across pavement
Minds lost in a cloud
Depressed
Mournful blue

Blue
A bright gem
Calling smiles to lips
Sparkling memories
Sweet thoughts and caresses
Wrapped in gold, or silver
Hard stone, soft light
Precious blue

Blue
A clouded mind
Busy with challenges
A penny for your thoughts
Bold inspiration
Blanketing the minds of those
With many trials
Blue awakening
